First Friday found us in the alley behind Pizzaiolo at 49th and Telegraph in Temescal. An inspiring mix of creative types have designed a polished, yet totally authentic and soulful blend of shops. Charlie from Pizzaiolo was serving up burgers, ice cold beer was flowing and little kids were running all around the nicely lit off-street neighborhood.
The neighborhood shops at 470 49th Street, Oakland – Tiny, warm storefronts host an array of friendly artists selling an impressive spectrum of useful and creative wares. The barber shop seems to be the hub…good luck getting a chair, you gotta wait a while. I will be going back. (above, right) The jewelry of Marisa Haskell.
