The evil brilliance at the MAYHEM metal fest

The thing about metal is how good it feels. It is base. It is libidinous. It is wrong – and that makes it oh so very right, most of the time, behind my headphones.  I am not a festival music goer. I hate sports, for the most part, so I am never around a very large crowd. The Mayhem festival in Palo Alto was yesterday and was headlined by many of my adolescent (still so, actually) idols: Motorhead, Slayer, Slipknot and Anthrax. What a good time, made better by Jagermeister, as you can imagine.  Yes, those are orcs on stage – their tag line: We’re not misunderstood, we’re evil.
