A great afternoon at Pilgrim – NYC

On the corner of Wythe and 3rd St. Williamsburg, Brooklyn, you can find Pilgrim Surf + Supply.

Chris is the owner. Here I am with him in front of some of the boards. His son Cal was born on Wednesday.

The stairs down to what is now the wetsuit room, but what will soon be outdoor supplies.

Pilgrim represents a retail zenith of sorts – a new kind of market that takes care of community as much as it does by presenting exceptional products.

Pilgrim sells boards by some of the best shapers in the world, including Josh Hall, Brian Hilbert, Jim Phillips and Scott Anderson.

Here’s Chris with some flag art by Fanny Bostron. He just got these flags and he’s excited to put them up in the store. We just had a couple of Peroni beers and did I mention he just had a kid? Yeah, Chris is feeling alright.

A painted blue stone in the future site of Pilgrim outdoor supply. Behind it, an ancient rug from Northern Iran.

We ended the afternoon listening to Tim Maia’s Racional. If you ever have the opportunity to acquire a copy of the album, do it. It is not available on itunes and is a most covetable record.
