Although in this map, I’ve identified 65 principal mountain ranges across California, I could’ve made a list longer than 100. Or I could have simply list six: Klamath, Sierra Nevada, Coastal Ranges, Tranverse Ranges, Penninsular and Desert. My threshold criteria was roughly 3000′. The omission of Sierra Nevada as a single mountain range in the list of 65, was to divide it up and list its constituent ridges and features. Click here for a printable PDF.
